Ryan Gravenberch has confessed he and his Liverpool teammates are "angry" following their Champions League hammering by PSV Eindhoven. The crushing defeat has intensified speculation around Arne Slot's position at Anfield.

The Reds were thrashed 4-1 by PSV on Wednesday evening at home, marking their third straight loss in all competitions. Each of those three matches has witnessed Liverpool lose by a three-goal deficit - with Manchester City and Nottingham Forest also recently beating the defending Premier League champions.

A run of six defeats in seven Premier League fixtures has plunged Liverpool to 12th in the table before their weekend journey to West Ham. Liverpool's disappointing run has now extended into European competition, with the PSV battering leaving the club languishing in 13th position in the league phase table.

When pressed to describe his feelings after Liverpool's PSV capitulation, Gravenberch delivered a concerning confession. “What can I say about today, we are just angry," Gravenberch told TNT Sports after being asked what the mood in the dressing room was like. "Angry that we lost.

“I think in the first half we didn’t even play badly. We created a lot of chances. In the second half - it went really wrong.”

Gravenberch's remarks follow Slot being questioned about his future as Liverpool's manager. “I don’t think it’s important if it’s fair or not,” Slot said when quizzed about his job security at Anfield. “But that is normal. That I understand.

“If any manager around the world loses football games, let alone so many as we’ve lost, it’s quite normal that people have an opinion about that.

“And if that’s fair or not fair, that’s for the people to judge. But that is normal. I think it is that if you lose so many times, that people start talking about that.

“I think it’s a shock for everyone. For the players, for the journalists over here, for me. For everyone this is a shock that is very, very, very unexpected when you look at the quality we are having."

Liverpool will now prepare to face West Ham in the Premier League at the weekend, where they will be determined to return to winning ways.
