Liverpool Champions League winner Dietmar Hamann has slammed Mohamed Salah's performance against PSV Eindhoven - as he gave his opinion on Arne Slot's future at the club. The Reds were beaten 4-1 at Anfield in their league phase fixture on Wednesday night.
Dominik Szoboszlai scored the only goal for Liverpool, which had drawn the home side level before the Reds conceded three second-half goals to suffer yet another defeat.
Defeat against PSV means Liverpool have lost by a three-goal margin in each of their last three matches, conceding 10 goals in the process. Hamann provided his assessment of Liverpool's defeat, where the former midfielder explained why he expected Slot to make more changes to his team.
Alexander Isak dropped to the bench with Hugo Ekitike leading the line for Liverpool. The only other change made by Slot was Giorgi Mamardashvili replacing Alisson Becker, who missed out through illness.
Hamann explained why he believes Salah should have been dropped for the match against PSV, while also questioning Slot's future in the Anfield dugout.
"I thought Salah might be one of the first one to be dropped," Hamann told RTE Sport. "And then I said to myself, 'I'm not sure because he needs him'.
"Now he [Slot] has got a decision to make. Do you get the sack with Salah or do you keep your job without him?
"What Salah did for that second PSV goal, that was the time Slot had the chance to take him off straight away because what he did there was disgraceful.
"For a player of Salah's calibre it pains me to say that because he is the guy that has been carrying the team for the last seven or eight years.
"But what he did in letting the player, Mauro Junior, get past him, without doing anything to help the team."
