Arsenal continued their impressive start to the season with a 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League, keeping Mikel Arteta's side unbeaten in Europe's top competition. The Gunners have only conceded once in the tournament so far, following matches against Athletic Club Bilbao, Olympiacos, Atletico Madrid, Slavia Prague and Bayern.

Their remarkable defensive record was broken by Lennart Karl, who levelled for Vincent Kompany's team just after the half-hour mark, after Jurrien Timber's opening goal. However, Arsenal demonstrated their quality and emerged victorious thanks to goals from Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli.

Chelsea secured an impressive win over Barcelona, but Manchester City, Liverpool and Spurs were beaten by Bayer Leverkusen, PSV and PSG in Europe, with their form not much better in the Premier League. Attention will now shift back to domestic action, with Arsenal currently leading the Premier League title race.

Arteta's squad are six points ahead of their closest competitors, Chelsea, who they face next. A trip across London could see Arsenal extend their lead at the top of the table to nine points, depending on other results. Last weekend, they took advantage of defeats for Manchester City and reigning Premier League champions, Liverpool.

The latter of Arsenal's two title rivals are experiencing a crisis, having lost five of their last seven matches in all competitions, and were thrashed 4-1 by PSV in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Arteta is well aware of the significance of a victory against Chelsea this weekend. With that in mind, the Mirror has analysed the upcoming matches for those club's chasing the Premier League title.
