Thanksgiving admittedly is not [Mike Vrabel’s](https://www.masslive.com/patriots/2025/11/mike-vrabel-singles-out-two-patriots-players-in-locker-room-speech-after-beating-bengals.html) favorite holiday. That distinction belongs to Christmas, with Fourth of July a close second.
“Big firework guy,” Vrabel said.
Then the [Patriots](https://www.masslive.com/patriots/) coach said there’s “a big drop off,” with St. Patrick’s Day and Halloween in the mix for third place.
Though Thanksgiving doesn’t fall into his favorites, Vrabel still knows he has plenty to be thankful for in 2025. His Patriots sit 10-2, alone atop the AFC, but Vrabel said he was most grateful for the people in his life when reflecting on Wednesday afternoon.
“My family,” Vrabel said. “I think that having them here this week is going to be good, going to be nice. And then I would say the opportunity to coach this team. I think the players, the coaches, the staff: That’s what I’m thankful for. Got some good friends that have helped along the years.
“How about you (media) guys? I appreciate you guys,” Vrabel added with a smirk. “I’m thankful for you guys.”
As for Vrabel’s quarterback, Drake Maye said he’d miss being able to play Thanksgiving 1-on-1 with his brothers in Huntersville, North Carolina this year, but believes he also has a great deal to be thankful for.
“I’m thankful for a lot of things,” Maye said. “Thankful to play this game. Thankful for the people that are in my life. Thankful for the fanbase. Thankful for you guys. Appreciate you guys. Thankful for the Good Lord. I think that’s one of the biggest things in my life: Having a purpose and something to wake up for and be thankful for every day. To wake up and be healthy and play this game, play with these guys, these teammates. It’s been fun.
“So we’ve got some more left, but Happy Thanksgiving. It’s a great time to be thankful.”
