Jamie Carragher responds to X-rated Curtis Jones interview with Mohamed Salah dig

Jamie Carragher once again questioned why Mohamed Salah did not front up in a post-game interview after Liverpool was thrashed by PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

The Reds lost by a three-goal margin for a third successive game, as PSV scored three times without reply during a shambolic second half at Anfield. Four days earlier, Liverpool lost 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest, after which Carragher came out and questioned Liverpool legend Salah for not fronting up in public during difficult moments.

Carragher said: "A year ago this weekend, Mo Salah wasn't shy in coming out and speaking about his own situation, about the club not offering him a contract. I only ever hear Salah speak when he gets man of the match, or he needs a new contract."

After the loss to PSV, Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones was interviewed by CBS Sports, and Carragher began his analysis of Jones' comments with another cheeky dig about Salah.

"Curtis Jones is a local player, he's passionate, he's obviously hurting right now, and he's given an interview that will probably go everywhere," Carragher said.

"I'd love to have seen Mo Salah speaking there rather than Curtis Jones, coming out."

As for Jones' interview, he could not explain why Liverpool is struggling as badly as it is right now.

"I don't have the answers. Honestly, I don't. It's just unacceptable," Jones told RTE. "I'm past being angry inside. I'm at the point now where I just don't have the words.

"We're going to try and get this team back to where it needs to be, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world, but right now, we're in the s---, and it needs to change."

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot, meanwhile, said he is not worried about the possibility of being fired – despite the team's appalling recent run.

"I am feeling safe, I am OK. I have got a lot of support from above," said Slot. "It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory, of course, but if you are not doing well, then it is normal that questions are asked.

"I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I've been in a difficult position, but it is about time that we turned it around.

"I'm not worried. What I mean by that is my focus is on other things than on my own position.

"I need to do better, and that's what I'm trying to do every single day."
