**Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike could miss West Ham clash on Sunday as he was withdrawn with a back injury on Wednesday.**
The Reds’ awful form under Arne Slot continued in the Champions League on Wednesday night as the succumbed to a humbling 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven at Anfield. This made it nine defeats in just twelve game for the scousers.
The loss isn’t where the bad news ends, however. Summer signing and probably one of their only impresive players this season Hugo Ekitike was withdrawn on the hour mark with a back injury,
The Frenchman may be doubtful for Sunday’s Premier League match against West Ham United, which is turning into a crucial match for the champions as they try to snap their embarrassing losing streak.
Ekitike has scored six goals and provided 1 assist for the Reds this season, while marquee striker signing Alexander Isak has scored just one. Yes, he didn’t start the season with full match sharpness after missing pre-season wit Newcastle, but it’s still not great.
He hasn’t settled in at Liverpool yet, but with Ekitike likely to be missing he is almost certain to start the game and no doubt he will find his feet against us on Sunday.
Every team has their worries going in to games like this ‘of course their going to break their loss streak against us, of course he’s finally going to score against us, of course he’s going to score against us once again.’ But at West Ham United, that seems to happen a whole lot more than at any other club.
Wayne Rooney, Callum Wilson, Romelu Lukaku and Chris Wood are players that always seemed to score against the Hammers. Alexander Isak is slowly becoming one of those. He’s played five matches against the Hammers, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
With this record, the fact he hasn’t scored for a while or much for Liverpool at all, combined with West Ham being West Ham, there is no doubt Isak is going to be on the score sheet this weekend.
However, lets hope that’s not the case, or even if it is, let’s hope we can capitalise on Liverpool’s atrocious form and get something from the game to take us further away from the relegation zone.
