Player won’t be moving to Everton – Suggestion claims should be laughed at

Last week, the UK reported Everton are seriously interested in Napoli’s Scott McTominay.

Toffees’ manager David Moyes was then asked about the club’s potential interest in the midfielder.

The Scotsman clarified the club’s stance on the matter, saying: “ I don’t know we’re quite at that level yet. Hopefully, we’re working towards it.”

Further denials about a potential switch to Everton have now arrived from Italy too.

The ex-Manchester United player was on the scoresheet for Napoli against Qarabag in the Champions League on Tuesday. This came days after he scored a fantastic overhead kick for Scotland.

This led to SportItalia – relayed by NapoliMagazine, reporting on 28-year-old. It’s explained McTominay is at the ‘centre of the village’ at Napoli, meaning he’s a key man on and off the pitch. He’s seen as the club’s present and future.

Addressing speculation about Everton and other clubs, the report clarifies that rumours must be taken ‘with a smile’. There is a lot of confidence that McTominay will not leave Napoli anytime soon. Links with any English clubs are not to be taken seriously.

The Scotland international won Serie A last season, and was then named the best player in the league. In the ongoing campaign, Napoli again find themselves in a race for the title.
