Everton vs Newcastle Prediction: Can Magpies Fix Awful Away Record?

Two sides meet off the back of impressive Premier League results. We look ahead to Saturday’s clash with our Everton vs Newcastle United prediction and preview.

Everton vs Newcastle: The Key Stats

The Opta supercomputer struggled to split these two teams as Newcastle won 36.9% of pre-match simulations and Everton claimed three points in 36.8%.

Newcastle have lost their last three Premier League away games, opening the scoring in both of the previous two.

Everton are aiming to win three league games in a row without conceding for the first time since April 2024.

Everton and Newcastle United will both hope to build on sizeable Premier League scalps of the two Manchester clubs when they meet on Saturday at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

David Moyes enjoyed his first Premier League win at Old Trafford as a visiting manager on Monday night. His 10-man Everton prevailed as 1-0 winners over Manchester United.

Man Utd 0-1 Everton Stats 2025-26

The Toffees were up against it just 13 minutes in as Idrissa Gueye was bizarrely sent off for violent conduct after swiping at teammate Michael Keane‘s face following a heated disagreement.

Gueye was the first player to be sent off in the Premier League for ‘fighting’ with a teammate since Stoke City’s Ricardo Fuller did so with Andy Griffin in December 2008, but Everton soon delivered another sucker-punch at the other end.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall‘s excellent first-half finish paved the way for a monumental win as United lost against 10 men at Old Trafford for the first time in the competition’s history. Having also swept Fulham aside 2-0, Moyes’ side will now aim to win three league games in a row without conceding for the first time since April 2024.

Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish enjoyed a hostile reception against his parent club’s fierce rivals on the red side of Manchester, but he will fancy his chances of playing the hero on Merseyside.

Grealish’s four assists in the competition against Newcastle are his most against any opponent. He also has the joint-most assists of any Premier League player this season (4), though all of these came in his first four appearances back in August.

It is not just his play-making ability, however, that Newcastle will be wary of. Grealish’s 36 fouls won are the most of any player in the 2025-26 campaign. On the other flank, the impressive Iliman Ndiaye will likely line up against Dan Burn, who has conceded more fouls than any other defender (23) in this season’s competition.

But Newcastle, who beat Man City 2-1 in their last league outing, have their own stars for Everton to handle with caution.

Harvey Barnes, who had gone 16 games without a goal, has scored three times in his last two league outings, finding the net twice in Newcastle’s win over City. He also opened the scoring against Marseille in a 2-1 UEFA Champions League loss on Tuesday.

Only Grealish has won more fouls than Bruno Guimarães‘ 27 in the Premier League this season, though there are still concerns for Eddie Howe’s side away from St. James’ Park.

Newcastle have lost their last three Premier League away games, opening the scoring in the previous two. Only three teams have lost 3+ consecutive away games despite opening the scoring in Premier League history – Middlesbrough (September 2008), Leicester City (October 2022) and Brentford (November 2024).

A strong start will be key to quietening an increasingly optimistic home crowd. Everton are just three points adrift of Aston Villa in fourth, but they are also only three points and as many places above 14th-placed Newcastle.

Arsenal and Crystal Palace (3 each) are the only teams to have conceded fewer first-half goals than Newcastle (4) in this season’s Premier League. The Magpies are also the only side yet to concede in the opening 30 minutes of games.

% of Goals Conceded in First Half Newcastle

If they can get past a resurgent Everton, Newcastle would manage consecutive Premier League victories for the first time since a run of five from March to April last season. However, Howe’s side are winless in nine top-flight away games (D4 L5), last having a longer run between December 2015 and August 2017 (12).

Newcastle’s team news is largely unchanged, with Kieran Trippier, Yoane Wissa and Will Osula all out. Moyes will be without the suspended Gueye until mid-December, Séamus Coleman will be assessed after limping off early at Old Trafford, and both Jarrad Branthwaite and Merlin Röhl remain sidelined through injury.

Everton vs Newcastle Head-to-Head

This will be the first time Everton face Newcastle while above them in the Premier League table since a 3-1 away loss in February 2022 (Everton 16th, Newcastle 19th).

In fact, the Toffees are winless in their last six against Saturday’s visitors when higher than them the league standings (D2 L4).

However, Newcastle are winless in their last four Premier League games against Everton (D2 L2), having previously won five of their six matches against them (L1).

But Everton’s record is hardly better – they have won just four of 14 league matches against Newcastle (D4 L6) since winning five consecutive matches between March 2015 and April 2018.

Everton vs Newcastle Prediction

The Opta supercomputer can barely split these sides. Newcastle win 36.9% of 10,000 pre-match simulations, only 0.1 percentage points higher than Everton (36.8%).
