Will Aaron Rodgers Miss Bills Game With Wrist Injury?

Will Aaron Rodgers miss the Bills game with his wrist injury?

While Mike Tomlin sounded optimistic about Aaron Rodgers’ availability against the Bills, Rodgers seemed less so on Wednesday. Among other things, he said that he is still not comfortable taking snaps and hopes to practice today. Listening to him speak, it doesn’t sound like he actually was very close to playing against the Bears last Sunday.

Rodgers, of course, wants to play and will try to play, but the decision won’t be solely his to make. The Steelers could certainly use him, especially given their recent skid. But if his injury is going to prevent him from playing winning football, he isn’t helping anybody, including himself.

Pittsburgh’s season is at a critical juncture, especially with the Wild Card continually looking more challenging as a playoff path. With the Ravens tying them at 6-5, the Steelers would not be in the playoffs if the season ended today. They still have two games remaining against Baltimore, however, so they remain in control of their destiny. And it’s more important for them to have Aaron Rodgers for the Ravens than for the Bills.

That is another factor that they have to consider and, of course, are considering. If Rodgers is in danger of aggravating his injury and affecting his availability for the following week, he can’t play. But at what point will he be free from meaningful risk of reinjury? He mentioned having had more time for calluses to form—how much time do his bones need? Does he get enough calcium?

Perhaps the bigger question is, regardless of who starts, can the Steelers beat the Bills? While they are tied with the Ravens, Baltimore has an easier road ahead. The AFC North rivals still play twice, but can the Steelers get winning play from the quarterback position? Whether Aaron Rodgers or Mason Rudolph, they haven’t been above the line often enough.

After another disappointing season and months of retooling, the Steelers are set to try it all again in 2025. Though they limped into the playoffs, they once again embarrassed themselves therein.

Just like last year, the biggest question hanging over the Steelers isthe quarterback question. They settled in on Aaron Rodgers, but we still have a lot to learn about him. The2025 NFL Draft class could play a big role, but veteran additions like Jalen Ramsey will be paramount.

Now we are in the regular season. From Rodgers to George Pickens to Minkah Fitzpatrick and Ramsey, we’ve seen the Steelers make some big changes. Now it’s about evaluating the roster in place and figuring out how it all works out.
