David Luiz rolls back the years in the Champions League ahead of Stamford Bridge return

Chelsea took a massive step towards automatically qualifying for the Champions League Round of 16 when they beat Barcelona 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues currently sit in the top eight with three fixtures to go, with two tricky trips to Italy to come against Atalanta and Antonio Conte’s Napoli.

Their final remaining game comes against debutants Pafos, who have caused some surprises and currently sit in the top 24.

David Luiz scores brilliant header in Champions League

The Brazilian found the net with a brilliant header to level their most recent game against Monaco, which they ended up drawing 2-2.

The goal saw him become the second-oldest goalscorer in Champions League history, only behind fellow defender Pepe.

Chelsea fans were excited at a potential Luiz reunion, and he will be back at Stamford Bridge on January 21 for the final group stage game.

The match could be crucial for both sides, with Chelsea looking for a place in the top eight and their opponents hoping to qualify for the knockout stages for the very first time.

Chelsea’s past and future have already met this season

The Champions League threw up Pafos vs Kairat Almaty earlier this season, with a figure who looks set for a bright future at Chelsea involved in proceedings.

Dastan Satpaev was frustrated by Luiz, with the game ending in a draw despite the fact that Pafos had been reduced to 10 men early on.

Since then, Satpaev has scored his first Champions League goal, and will look to make his mark against Arsenal later in the competition.

The youngster is currently set to join Chelsea at the end of the season, and have had a coach working with him in Kazakhstan to get him ready for action.
