PSV Eindhoven star Couhaib Driouech has admitted he spotted a weakness in Liverpool while sitting on the bench and exploited it when given his chance.
De Telegraaf, who covered Arne Slot’s panic earlier, cover comments from him today. He performed well on Wednesday evening as PSV beat Liverpool 4-1 at Anfield.
Driouech started the game on the bench, with Ivan Perisic preferred ahead of him on the left. The Croatian actually opened the scoring from the spot.
But he was forced off in the 70th minute with an injury, giving Driouech his chance to shine. He took that chance with both hands, bagging goals in the 73rd and 92nd minutes to make the result an even more comfortable one for the Dutch side.
It was a huge moment for PSV and Driouech, who was even named Player of the Match despite only playing 20 minutes of it. Indeed, it continued a strange run of form for him with the Champions League, where he’s often shined more than in the Eredivisie.

He is certainly still comprehending what happened. But admits he saw a flaw in Liverpool that he was keen to take advantage of.
“This is unbelievable, bizarre. I think I’m still dreaming,” he told Ziggo Sport.
“As a substitute, I saw on the sidelines that we sometimes came out well in transition and at other times not. There was a lot of space. When you get inside, you know what to do.
“That first goal, I hit my shin a bit because the ball bounced. And with the second, I was already hoping Dest would see me open. Luckily, he did. I put the ball in nicely, yes.”
