Fox Sports' stalwart Erin Andrews has been met with a cold response from fans after speaking out about the hardships she faces in her job as a football reporter.

While journalists covering the NFL work shifts that vastly differ from the typical 9-to-5, it is nothing when compared to the likes of doctors, nurses and first responders.

So when Andrews went out of her way this week to discuss the difficulties of her industry in the holiday period, it didn't go down too well with viewers.

During a segment on her 'Calm Down' podcast with co-host Charissa Thompson, Andrews - who will be on the air during Thanksgiving Day - detailed some sacrifices she made to get to where she is in her career.

'This is what one of my first professors said,' Andrews relayed. ‘If you don’t want to make $40,000 in your first job, get out.

'If you don’t want to be told you need a nose job, get out. If you don’t want to be divorced, get out. If you don’t want to work holidays, get out.

Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews detailed many of the sacrifices she made early in her career

'And I don’t say it like that, but I say you got to love what you do because I miss all holidays. I didn’t get married until I was in my 40s.

'Not that that is going to be your route, but I live out of a suitcase. I miss a lot of stuff. I missed a lot of weddings. I miss a lot of events.

'You have to love it to get you through the fact, "I’m not gonna be home for Thanksgiving next week" or "Christmas is cut short".'

While Andrews has enjoyed herself a long and fruitful career across Fox and ESPN, others have yet to realize such success.

As a result, many responded with apathy and crocodile tears for the veteran reporter.

But Andrews' descriptions didn't sit right with some on social media, who expressed apathy

'Cry me a river. Her net worth is about $20 million!! $20 MILLION to smile and ask simple questions that any one of us can ask. I’d guarantee every serviceman and first responder works a lot harder for a lot less and doesn’t whine about it,' one comment read.

Another said, 'You poor thing. I feel so bad for you. How are you going to make it? Tone deaf.'

'Does not have my sympathy, sorry,' said another commenter.

Another post read, '$40k???? My 1st offer was $18k. Brutal back in 2000.'
