Mikel Arteta lost Leandro Trossard to injury in Arsenal's win over Bayern Munich
Arsenal medical staff are set to conduct further tests to discover the extent of Leandro Trossard's muscle injury ahead of the Premier League trip to Chelsea.
The Belgian, who has been in fine goalscoring form having recently found the back of the net against Sunderland and Tottenham, was unable to continue after feeling something in the back of his calf during a frantic first half against Bayern Munich.
Arsenal are now due to assess Trossard amid fears he is set for several weeks on the sidelines. Mikel Arteta said after his side ousted the Bundesliga champions : “With Leo, we don’t know [the extent of the injury]. He said he felt something. We didn’t want to take any risks, obviously."
The Gunners have already battled a host of notable injury blows this season having lost the likes of Martin Odegaard (to shoulder and knee problems), Viktor Gyokeres, Gabriel Magalhaes, Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz, amongst others, to various issues.

But it speaks volumes about the depth of their star-studded squad that their form has remained excellent across all competitions and they top both the Premier League and Champions League standings.
Arteta is still hopeful that he might be able to call upon attackers Gyokeres and Havertz this weekend when Arsenal travel to second-place Chelsea.
Gyokeres has been missing since November 1 when he picked up a muscle issue after netting the opening goal in the 2-0 win at Burnley.
Havertz hasn't featured since injuring his knee on the opening day of the season at Manchester United as he was forced to undergo a minor surgical procedure.
On Wednesday, it's understood the duo and centre-back Gabriel underwent further scans to establish a clearer timeline of their potential recovery.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Arteta made it clear those scans would effectively determine whether Gyokeres and Havertz would stand a realistic chance of making the weekend. He is expected to provide an update on Friday on the pair's condition.
Gabriel was expected to be sidelined for at least one month with the thigh issue he picked up in Brazil's 2-0 friendly victory over Senegal during the international break.

The defender was on the pitch last night to congratulate his Arsenal team-mates following their Champions League win over Bayern but he is not expected to be available imminently.
Arsenal have recently seen their numbers bolstered by the returns of captain Odegaard, who came off the bench against Bayern, and wingers Madueke and Martinelli, who were both among the goals in midweek.
