Where is Jack White from? Hometown and more to know about Lions' Thanksgiving halftime show performer

Thanksgiving football halftime shows have become as much of a staple on the holiday as the game itself, and this year's selections are star-studded.

With the Detroit Lions hosting the Green Bay Packers in the first game of the day, the team partnered with Eminem to find the right performer. In the end, rock star Jack White was named the halftime show performer in Detroit, giving the newly inducted Hall of Famer a chance to perform in front of the entire country.

White is a perfect choice for the game, as he has a special connection to the city of Detroit compared with most other performers. Here's what you need to know about White's upbringing and sports fandom.

Where is Jack White from?

Jack White was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, becoming one of many music stars from the Motor City. White, the lead singer of The White Stripes, is a fitting choice to perform this year's halftime show and connect with the audience.

This is the first year that Detroit's own Eminem led the selection process for the halftime show, so it’s not surprising he chose a fellow Detroit native. While White currently lives in Nashville, he still maintains a connection to his hometown.

Jack White sports fandom

As a native of Detroit, Jack White roots for the Lions and the rest of the Detroit sports teams. However, while White is a fan of the Lions, the rock star is more of a baseball fan at heart, as he has attended every Major League Baseball stadium and is a hardcore Tigers fan.

Earlier this year, White both attended a Detroit Tigers game against the Colorado Rockies and joined the Tigers' broadcast booth for an inning.

Although White typically shows his pride for Detroit at Tigers games, he will now be getting an opportunity of a lifetime for a kid from Detroit to perform at a Lions game.
