Bucky Irving Declares He’s Ready To Play

November 27th, 2025

Bucs RB Bucky Irving.

Bucky Irving hasn’t played in over two months. He suffered foot and shoulder injuries against the Eagles on Sept. 28. It seems his shoulder was the biggest problem.

He was able to be a full participant in practice yesterday (though the Bucs didn’t have a real practice) and all systems seem to be go for Bucky’s first football in a long while.

Bucky talked to local media for the first time since the injury yesterday and admitted being unable to contribute has been a hurdle for him. This was his first significant injury — with the Bucs or in college at Oregon.

“It’s tough, man, [especially] your first time being hurt,” Bucky said yesterday at One Buc Palace. “When I step out onto that field – like I always say – I don’t take this game for granted.

“I love what I do every day. I love my teammates. When I go out there, I show them that each and every time I get the ball, I’m trying to make plays and make things happen for this organization and this team to help them in any type of fashion to win football games.

“Being down and having something taken away from you… everything was alright because I had the right people around me.”

Well, it seems he is alright now, though he bristled when the Sage of Tampa Bay sports, Ira Kaufman, asked Bucky if he was in football shape being out for two months.

Bucs offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard was asked about Bucky’s workload if he gets back on the field Sunday against Arizona. Grizzard said it would be unreasonable for Bucky, or any player, who has missed a chunk of games to be expected to log 60 snaps in his first game back.

So it sounds like Bucky will be on a pitch count. If he plays Sunday.
