When is Trevon Diggs coming back? Injury update, return timeline for Cowboys CB

The Dallas Cowboys have been without cornerback Trevon Diggs for several weeks now due to injury.

Diggs has been out due to a concussion, but the injury didn't take place on the field. Instead, the Cowboys cornerback sustained the injury in an at-home accident. The details of said accident remain unclear, though.

The injury was significant enough that Diggs, who is also dealing with a knee issue, had to be placed on injured reserve, which forced him to miss at least four games.

Diggs was eligible to return from injured reserve this week, but that did not happen and he will now sit out a fifth-straight game.

Here's what we know about Diggs' return timeline.

When is Trevon Diggs coming back?

Diggs can be activated off IR at any time, but the Cowboys did not do that this week, and they didn't even designate him to return from injured reserve.

So, the earliest Diggs will make his return to the field is in Week 14, although it isn't clear if that will actually happen.

Once the Cowboys designate him to return from IR, Dallas will have 21 days to activate Diggs, so his absence could extend for multiple weeks more after he's designated to return.

Considering his litany of injury issues in recent years, it's fair to assume the Cowboys will take their time with him.

The good news is, Diggs has been working with the rehab group at practice recently, so he's clearly getting closer.

While there was some concern that Diggs might not make it back at all this season, owner Jerry Jones shot that down.

"Why not? Yes. Why not?" Jones said. "But there's a little beyond my expectations. We've got to see how he heals from his injury. He has been there, physically there in full shape for us."

Diggs' future is quite murky beyond this season, as the Cowboys have an out in his contract that they will likely exercise after the former interceptions leaders has failed to live up to his contract.
