[Pittsburgh Steelers](https://www.pennlive.com/steelers/) wide receiver [Ben Skowronek](https://www.pennlive.com/steelers/2025/10/hard-nosed-pittsburgh-steelers-wide-receiver-battling-through-illness.html) is battling a shoulder injury that forced him to miss practice on Wednesday. Skowronek played a season-high 26 snaps against the Chicago Bears and did not come out of that unscathed.
Head coach Mike Tomlin mentioned that Skowronek would be limited to start the week with the injury, which generally points to the issue being minor enough to where he should be able to play, though that is not for certain.
If Skowronek could not play, the Steelers would lose a physical presence as a blocker and a critical special teamer who has helped fill in the blanks once Miles Killebrew was lost for the season with a serious knee injury.
Signed to the practice squad a year ago, Skowronek has quickly become a key member of the Steelers' wide receiver room and special teams group. He signed a two-year deal this offseason after an excellent first season with the Steelers.
Now, he is continuing to build on that resume and fits perfectly in offensive coordinator Arthur Smith’s scheme as a blocking force that can open up things in the run game.
Pittsburgh could use him against a poor Bills run defense this week as that will likely be critical to their strategy.
