The Reds lost 4-1 at home to PSV yesterday
Liverpool’s awful run of form reached a new low last night as they fell behind 4-1 at home to Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven.
It was the Reds’ third consecutive loss by a margin of three or more goals and their ninth defeat in the last 12 matches.

As a result, the pressure on Liverpool manager Arne Slot is now immense, and there have been some serious suggestions that he may soon be removed form his position as Liverpool’s head coach.
Following last night’s loss, Liverpool have dropped out of the automatic Champions League qualification spots.
Their Premier League position is even worse, with the Reds currently 12th in the table, a place below local rivals Everton.
Slot appears, at least from the outside, to be incapable of dragging his side out of their slump.
Slot may have led his side to a shock Premier League title win last season, but under their Dutch coach, Liverpool are now on their worst run in more than 70 years.

The Reds haven’t lost nine in twelve since 1953, when Winston Churchill was still the British Prime Minister.

Even against such daunting odds, Slot still seemed sure of both himself and his position as manager, when speaking to the press after the match.
Arne Slot said: “It is a shock for everyone, for the players, for me, this is very, very unexpected.
“I am feeling safe, I am okay though.
“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.
“If any manager around the world loses football games, let alone as many as we have lost, it’s quite normal people have an opinion about that. If it’s fair or unfair, it’s for other people to judge. Is that normal? I think it is. If you lose so many times, people start talking about that.
“I have got a lot of support from above. I am okay with my position. They [the board] don’t call every single minute of the day to say they trust me but in the normal conversations we have, I feel the trust.”
‘Agreement reached’ on whether Arne Slot should be sacked
The prospect of Slot being replaced from his position as manager was discussed by Liverpool legends Steven Gerrard and Steve McManaman after full-time.
McManaman made clear that even in light of Liverpool’s current position it is “too early” to consider sacking the Dutchman.
Speaking on TNT Sports, the former Liverpool and Real Madrid star said: “I think no. I think it’s far too early, what he’s achieved and where he is now this year, that’s a good run of fixtures.
“I understand the question completely but with that run of fixtures, Liverpool still fighting in the Champions League, it’s far too early to come up with a question like that. They will have to be knocked out of the Champions League and wallowing at the bottom of the league.
“I think they play Arsenal second week in Jan, that’s when the question should be asked. Hopefully they’ll have climbed the table.
“You have to give him time for the signings, who have constantly been injured, they’re ones you’d expect to come in and lift the team.”
Gerrard was in agreement, adding: “That’s the world we live in, that’s football in the modern day. I’ve been in that position myself.
“You understand that if you’re not getting the results, there is going to be serious questions asked, stewards inquiry, that comes with the territory especially at the top end.
“I agree Macca, from me and you because we lived through it and suffered. I’ve been both sides. It’s going to come.”
Liverpool will need to secure all three points when they face West ham on Saturday in order to alleviate any pressure on Slot.
