Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank has defended Arne Slot amid calls for him to be sacked by Liverpool, insisting he is “1,000 percent” sure he will recover.
Slot will not be relieved from his position as Liverpool head coach despite a 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven making it nine losses in his last 12 games.
That is not to say the Dutchman’s role will not be under scrutiny, particularly if his side’s miserable form continues against West Ham on Sunday.
But speaking in a press conference on Thursday, Tottenham boss Frank gave his perspective on calls for Slot to be sacked.

“Arne is clearly an unbelievable coach. What he did with Feyenoord, Liverpool, incredible,” the Dane explained.
“So he will, 1,000 percent, find a way out of that.
“I don’t know him personally, but he will stay calm, he and his coaching staff will find a solution and they will go again.
“In football, some managers, some clubs, are privileged not to have too many setbacks, maybe it’s just one game, others have a big spell.
“So yes, there will be setbacks and how you come back from them is the key.
“I agree with you that I think sometimes one game is like ‘oh, it’s a disaster’, but it’s probably a little bit in between.
“I’m maybe not the best coach in the world after we beat City away, probably not the worst coach in the world after we lost a game.
“So that’s just the way it is. It’s how we build something over time.”

This does perhaps give a valuable insight into the fraternity of Premier League managers, who will understand better than most the unique pressures of the job.
Frank has already come into question since taking over at Tottenham over the summer and clearly feels empathy towards Slot’s situation.
However the landscape could swiftly change if Liverpool fall further into the mire, with Tottenham themselves among their final seven opponents before the end of the year.
That clash on December 20 will hopefully land after a turning point for the Premier League champions, with it clear that change is needed – if not in the dugout, in performances on the pitch.
