The Chicago Bears are in the midst of what could be a special season. For the first time since 2018, they’ve won four games in a row twice in a season after winning on Sunday 31-28 over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The win improved their record to 8-3 and they held onto the No. 1 spot in the NFC North for the second week in a row and the No. 3 seed in the NFC. Caleb Williams went 19/35 for 239 yards and had his third 3+ touchdown game of the season with three, two going to veteran receiver DJ Moore. The Bears Defense only allowed 21 points, forced two turnovers, and edge rusher Montez Sweat racked up two sacks.
While the Steelers were a step up from most of the competition they’ve played this year, the truly easy part of Bears schedule is over. The final six game gauntlet begins this Friday against the defending Super Bowl Champions in the Philadelphia Eagles. It’ll be a special Black Friday game on the road, with kick-off scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Central on Amazon Prime (you can watch this game on Prime without a subscription for this game only).
The Eagles are probably the second most criticized 8-3 team in the NFL next to the Bears. Their defense has been incredible at times, holding the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions so single digits in back-to-back weeks, with Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and the newly acquired Jalen Phillips making up one of the best pass rush and run defense fronts in the league. The offense on the other hand, has been a very different story. Saquon Barkley is having a worse season than last year, AJ Brown has told fans in publicly to not play him in fantasy, and Eagles fans want Kevin Patullo’s head for how bad he has been calling the plays. Those flaws were exposed again on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, as Philly looked to improve to 9-2 as they raced out to a 21-0 lead. They collapsed, allowed 24 unanswered points, as the Cowboys won on a walk-off field goal from Brandon Aubrey.
This will be the 48th all-time meeting between the Bears and Eagles, with Chicago holding a 29-17-1 advantage. While that’s the case, Philadelphia has dominated this matchup since 1999. In the 16 games between the two teams (including playoffs), the Eagles own a 12-4 record, including a six-game winning streak going back to 2013. The last time these two teams met was back in December. 18, 2022, where the Eagles won 25-20 at Soldier Field. Justin Fields went 14/21 for 154 yards and two touchdowns, adding 95 yards on the ground for Chicago, while Jalen Hurts had three rushing touchdowns for Philly.
The Bears’ last win over the Eagles was 14 years ago on November 7th, 2011, with a final score of 30-24. Jay Cutler outdueled Michael Vick, going 18/32 for 208 yards and two touchdowns, while Marion Barber added a touchdown on the ground.
