While the regular season continues for the Chicago Bears, who sit at the top of the NFC North after having won eight games, behind the scenes, the front office has quietly been preparing for the 2026 offseason.
Set to be the second year of the Ben Johnson-Ryan Poles era, the Bears will enter next offseason with a plethora of questions that will need to be answered. A major question will be what to do at the safety position. Both Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker are set to hit the free agent market and are playing the 2025 season on expiring deals.
For this episode of the Picks For Poles Podcast, hosts Usayd Koshul and Andrew Freeman discuss what the Bears might do at the safety position next offseason and evaluate potential replacements, including Caleb Downs (Ohio State) and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren (Toledo). Usayd and Andrew also discuss what the Bears could do with their first-round pick in 2026 and what the Bears should be thankful for during the 2025 season.
