‘He’s incredible athletically’ Everton Boss David Moyes on What Merlin Rohl can Bring to his Side

David Moyes has revealed what attributes Merlin Rohl can bring to his Everton side.

Rohl has made four substitute appearances since his summer arrival from Bundesliga side Freiburg.

However, despite limited game time, the German has impressed during each of his cameos.

With Idrissa Gueye unavailable for the foreseeable, Rohl would’ve likely featured heavily over the next month.

Frustratingly, the 23-year-old has recently undergone a hernia operation, and remains sidelined.

Once fit, Moyes has revealed what the midfielder can bring to the club, stating: “Dynamism. He’s got speed and athleticism.

“He can play a number of positions for us as well. We can play him in several positions and he would still do the same job.

“He’s incredible athletically. That’s why we’re disappointed because we’re just missing him a wee bit at the moment because I would have hoped to have had some more time for him by now.

“He picked up a rib injury in training then he had something else and we found out he had to get his hernia repaired.”

ROHL INJURY FRUSTRATING AT PIVOTAL TIME, BUT ONCE FIT, HE CAN BE A REAL ASSET FOR BLUES

While Rohl’s appearances for the club are few, the glimpses we’ve had of his style of play are a cause for optimism.

The midfielder looks composed and comfortable in possession, with a keen eye for a pass.

Indeed, he’s previously spoken of his goalscoring ambitions, and can play high up the pitch.

With David Moyes’ pre-match press conference scheduled for tomorrow, we’ll likely get an update on his recovery.

However, with Newcastle on Saturday and Bournemouth on Tuesday evening, the game are coming thick and fast.

We’ve yet to see much of the lad, and we certainly won’t have seen the best of him yet. His absence is frustrating, but once fit Merlin Rohl could be a real player for David Moyes.
