Lions Make Roster Change Ahead of Upcoming Week

The Detroit Lions opened Week 13 with a clear message. They are reshaping the back end of their roster right before Thursday’s matchup with the Green Bay Packers. The team waived veteran running back Craig Reynolds, a steady depth piece since 2021. His exit occurred while Detroit activated multiple players from the injury list and prepared for a bruising divisional test.

Detroit kept the moves rolling as they tried to stabilize a roster hit by injuries across several groups. First, the team activated defensive end Marcus Davenport off injured reserve. He had been sidelined since Week 2 with a pectoral and shoulder issue. Davenport returned at a time when the Lions needed another edge presence opposite Aidan Hutchinson.

Meanwhile, the defense had rotated multiple players to fill the void and struggled to keep consistent pressure. Now, the Campbell squad hopes his size and burst can settle the edge rotation.

The Lions brought back rookie lineman Miles Frazier from the PUP list after he sat out camp and early games due to a knee issue. Since then, their offensive line’s taken hit after hit.

Now his comeback gives them extra support up front. Ahead of the Packers matchup, Detroit marked Decker, Sewell, and Ratledge as uncertain. On top of that, they’re without starting center Glasgow this week – forcing last-minute adjustments.

Squad continued to layer in support by signing tight end Anthony Firkser and wide receiver Tom Kennedy from the practice squad. Those moves came after Brock Wright and Kalif Raymond suffered injuries that kept them out for Week 13. The Lions also elevated center Kingsley Eguakun and tight end Zach Horton.

Eguakun provides the team with an emergency option at center, as Glasgow is out, and Frank Ragnow is not yet eligible to play. Horton provides versatility as an H-back and fullback in their short-yardage and motion packages.
