Liverpool would be negligent to not try and bring Jürgen Klopp back to the club as a replacement for Arne Slot.
That’s according to BILD journalist Marcel Reif. He’s backing a return to Liverpool for Klopp as the pressure mounts on Slot.
The Dutch manager finds himself in the spotlight once again after the 4-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday. That was Liverpool’s ninth defeat in 12 games, and their third straight defeat by a three-goal margin.
Their season appears to be quickly unravelling, despite a huge summer in which they spent big on the likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
Slot is yet to work out how to get his new signings into a cohesive team, with Ekitike the only one to show positive signs so far. Isak, Wirtz and other signings can very much be described as flops at this point.
Jürgen Klopp is now rested and ready after Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp

The latest negative result saw boos ringing around Anfield at the final whistle. Some fans, and pundits, already believe that Slot should be sacked. And naturally, calls have started for Klopp to return in his place. Reif certainly thinks it should happen.
“Liverpool isn’t just in a mess. It’s practically burned to the ground!” he said on Reif ist Live.
“The timing of this statement (Klopp’s on Diary of a CEO) is terrible for Slot. He’s hovering over Anfield like a UFO. All of Liverpool would carry him back on their shoulders. And it would be negligent if they didn’t try to bring Klopp back.
“In Liverpool, the scar from his departure is far from healed. I don’t know what it’s like being Global Head of Soccer, and whether you ever start to wonder, ‘Is this really me?’
“He was exhausted after that time. It took its toll. Now he looks very rested. Almost as if Arne Slot has to watch out…”
Just a few days ago, Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß said he can’t see Klopp staying away from the bench for long.
