Thomas Frank has backed Arne Slot to turn around his Liverpool fortunes. The Dutchman is under immense pressure to guide the Reds back to form after a run of nine defeats in their last 12.

The Premier League-winning manager is facing questions over his future at Anfield as they face a crucial week in the top-flight. Liverpool take on West Ham United, Sunderland and Leeds United in seven days, as they sit three points off the Champions League places and 11 adrift of the title race.

A 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven heaped more scrutiny on the former Feyenoord head coach after they failed to bounce back from successive 3-0 defeats to Manchester City and Nottingham Forest.

But the Tottenham Hotspur boss – under pressure from certain sections of the Spurs fanbase himself – expects Slot to turn around fortunes on Merseyside.

"I think football is extremely fascinating," Frank said off the back of Tottenham's 5-3 defeat away to PSG. "It's so complex and we all try to analyse and understand it.

"If you look at Liverpool now, the manager Arne Slot I admire massively.

"Did fantastic stepping into the first season in the Premier League, won it. Incredible in every way. And now they are struggling a bit and they have a bad spell.

"I'm convinced he will find a way out. Convinced, convinced. But I don't think anyone has predicted that before we start the season. That's just sometimes football.

"But that's the thing we sometimes struggle to understand."

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was critical of the players within Slot's squad following their second-half collapse against the Eredivisie side.

The 47-year-old believes that Slot has seven days to maintain his position in the Liverpool hotseat.

"Arne Slot has a week to save his job. It is hard to believe that sentence is being written, but Liverpool’s next three games are against West Ham United, Sunderland and Leeds United," he wrote in his Telegraph column.

"Anything fewer than seven points will make an already unacceptable situation untenable.

"No matter how much goodwill the manager has, Liverpool Football Club cannot sustain the drop in standards witnessed over the past three months.

"After Slot won the Premier League in his first season, he seemed destined for a long stay on Merseyside too. Now, just six months later, he is hanging on."
