In fact, they go as far as to say this loss is a good thing for the German giants. And they provide the logic to back that up.
They say that while the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal hurts, it’s also good for Bayern. But only if they learn the right lessons from the loss at the Emirates.
They’re first full of praise for Arsenal. As far as BILD are concerned, they’re they best team Bayern have played this season. In fact, they label them as ‘arguably the best football team in Europe right now’.
The fact that Bayern matched them, at least until halftime, is something to be celebrated. It was only a ‘few fine moments’ that changed the game. And there’s more praise for Arsenal again here. They label Arsenal as ‘tactically astute’, as well as ‘shrewd’ and ‘highly disciplined’ Bayern simply couldn’t match that in the end.
The game has also allowed Bayern to see their deficiencies. They need to find creative solutions for the highest level of the game. The defence also needs to work out how to deal with a ‘counter-attacking machine’ like Arsenal’s. It’s up to Vincent Kompany to work that out.
He even admitted after the game that Arsenal were better. But the good news is that Arsenal have provided him with evidence to show his team where they need to improve.
All in all, it’s a big bit of Bayern PR from BILD. But Arsenal can at least take the compliments. In Germany at least, it seems they’re very impressed.
