Even AI won't back Newcastle United to win away from home on Saturday as Magpies take on Everton

· 27 November 2025, 19:00

Newcastle United face Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday at 5:30pm, live on Sky Sports.

It will, of course, be Newcastle's first visit to Everton's new home, but the Magpies will be heading there riddled with anxiety as another away day looms.

Newcastle haven't managed to pick up maximum points on the road in the Premier League this season, and another away defeat in midweek took the shine off a superb win against Manchester City last weekend.

We thought we'd turn to the Opta Supercomputer for a bit of hope and look at the prediction for the outcome of Saturday's game.

Everton will host Newcastle on Saturday

Opta's sewpa dewpa computer can't seem to pick a winner

Unfortunately, even artificial intelligence can't make us feel better about what to expect on Saturday evening.

The Opta computer has Everton with a 36.8% chance of victory and Newcastle at 36.9%, which, of course, is higher, so it does suggest that if any side is going to nick it, it'll be Newcastle.

However, in reality, those numbers suggest the computer has this one down as a draw.

We'll take Opta's prediction over Paul Merson's

Obviously, we'd take a draw. A point is a point, but we really, really need to start winning on the road. It seems daft that I even have to say that, it's so obvious, but what is sports commentary if not stating the obvious?

At least the Opta computer is giving us more of a chance than Paul Merson. Now we're just waiting to see what Chris Sutton has to say on the matter.

Not that predictions really matter, but sometimes it can just ease the nerves when someone backs your side to go on and win. We're counting on you, Sutton!
