Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank has weighed in on Arne Slot’s future at Anfield amid Liverpool’s worst run of form in more than 70 years.
Slot led the Reds to the Premier League title last season in his debut year in England, and the club backed him with significant summer signings, seemingly positioning themselves for another strong title challenge.
However, Liverpool currently sit 12th in the Premier League table, already 11 points behind leaders Arsenal.
The Reds have lost nine of their last 12 matches across all competitions.
Despite the 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night, Slot will not be relieved of his duties as head coach.
The Dutchman’s position will remain under scrutiny, particularly if Liverpool’s struggles continue against West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.
Tottenham boss Frank has come to Slot’s defence amid calls for his dismissal, insisting he is confident the Liverpool manager will recover.
Speaking in a press conference on Thursday, Frank said: “Arne is clearly an unbelievable coach. What he did with Feyenoord, Liverpool, incredible.
“So he will, 1,000 percent, find a way out of that.
“I don’t know him personally, but he will stay calm, he and his coaching staff will find a solution and they will go again.
“In football, some managers, some clubs, are privileged not to have too many setbacks, maybe it’s just one game, others have a big spell.
“So yes, there will be setbacks and how you come back from them is the key.
“I agree with you that I think sometimes one game is like ‘oh, it’s a disaster’, but it’s probably a little bit in between.
“I’m maybe not the best coach in the world after we beat City away, probably not the worst coach in the world after we lost a game.
“So that’s just the way it is. It’s how we build something over time.”
