How Brandon Aubrey went from Major League Soccer draft pick to some of NFL's longest FGs for Cowboys

Brandon Aubrey was a soccer player. And a darn good one, at that.

The Dallas Cowboys kicker never seemed destined for an NFL career. It looked like he would play in Major League Soccer.

Aubrey grew up as a soccer player. He played four seasons of college soccer at Notre Dame, where he ended up as a third-team All-American.

Aubrey was then a first-round draft pick into Major League Soccer by Toronto FC.

Ironically, Aubrey's specialty in his college career was considered heading the ball.

But he never made it to the first team with Toronto FC, and that led to his next career path.

When his soccer career ended, Aubrey took up kicking, training with former Mississippi State kicker Brian Egan.

In 2022, he made it to the USFL with the Birmingham Stallions, and he spent two seasons in that spring league.

The Cowboys signed him for the 2023 NFL season, and he has been a star from the moment he arrived.
