DALLAS (KCTV) - The Kansas City Chiefs hope to keep their playoff hopes alive with a Thanksgiving Day win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The Chiefs travel to Dallas to play in the Cowboys’ turkey day tradition at AT&T Stadium. It is expected to be the most-watched regular-season game in NFL history.
Both teams enter the Thanksgiving Day matchup sitting in 10th place in their conferences with just six games remaining in the regular season.
The Chiefs have at least one thing to be thankful for this year. Isiah Pacheco will return to the lineup after suffering an MCL sprain in the fourth quarter of the Week 8 win over the Washington Commanders.
They will also need to overcome other significant injuries suffered last week against the Indianapolis Colts.
Right guard Trey Smith was taken out of the game with an ankle injury after he was rolled up on. Tight end Noah Gray suffered a concussion after he landed hard while catching a pass. And Chris Roland-Wallace hurt his lower back during the game.
All three have been ruled out for Thursday’s game against the Cowboys.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a little something extra to play for in Dallas. He said he will have a lot of friends and family from his East Texas hometown inside the stadium.
“Just getting to play at home, having a lot of people in attendance that might not get to come to Kansas City, it’ll be really cool to experience playing there, especially on Thanksgiving,” Mahomes said, adding he’ll probably have “50-plus” friends and family in attendance.
