When it comes to pomp and circumstance, the National Football League spares no expense.

Baring that in mind, it hardly was shocking to see Detroit’s favourite sons sharing the stage as part of the league’s Thanksgiving Day festivities.

Rocker Jack White of The White Stripes fame had previously been announced as the Fox halftime show performer for Thursday’s tilt at Ford Field between the host Lions and Green Bay Packers.

His Detroit pal Eminem was a surprise, however. The Real Slim Shady made a cameo appearance on stage, joining White to perform the Marshall Mathers hit Til I Collapse.

Per USA Today, Eminem, a longtime Lions fan, also is the executive producer of the halftime show along with his longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg, so inserting himself into the entertainment action would not have been tricky.

Eminem, 53, actually was born in Missouri before eventually settling in Detroit when he was 12 years old.

White, who turned 50 earlier this year, was born in Detroit.

The performers are both Rock and Roll Hall of Famers.

It was the Lions’ 86th annual Thanksgiving Day Classic and marked White’s first-ever NFL performance.

Other megastars set to perform in stadiums across the NFL for the three pack of Thanksgiving Day games were Post Malone in Dallas at the Cowboys-Chiefs game and Lil Jon in Baltimore for the Ravens-Bengals tilt.

Eminem in non-rap battle with podcasters

Eminem’s appearance comes as he fired back at Real Housewives of Potomac stars Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon, alleging harassment amid their ongoing trademark dispute with the podcast Reasonably Shady.

The battle between the rapper and the reality stars has been ongoing since February 2023.

Last month, Bryant and Dixon filed documents explaining that the United States Patent and Trademark Office had ordered Eminem to be deposed. According to the filing, scheduling the deposition has been challenging.

The reality duo said Eminem was “very difficult” in arranging a date and time, per Page Six. It was eventually scheduled for Oct. 29, but Eminem requested a 2 p.m. start time instead of the 11 a.m. suggested by Bryant and Dixon.

Eminem’s lawyer said, “getting (him) to commit time to a deposition is very difficult, and we suggest that you take the opportunity when you can get him.”

According to Yahoo, in response, Eminem’s team argued that Bryant and Dixon’s insistence on filing a motion over the three-hour time difference demonstrates the stars’ “pursuit of (his) deposition is designed to harass.”
