Liverpool are considering bringing Jurgen Klopp back to the club to replace Arne Slot following their poor start to the season.
Arne Slot’s future has been up in the air following Liverpool’s disastrous start to the season. The Reds are considering parting ways with the Dutch manager, and according to a report from Fichajes, the Merseyside club are weighing up a sensational move to bring Jurgen Klopp back.
Slot had a sensational start to life at Anfield. He ended up guiding them to the Premier League title in his debut campaign. Following an exceptional season last time out, the Reds forked out a fortune to reinforce their squad in the summer.
Slot’s time at Anfield is over?
While they were expected to take Europe by storm, things haven’t gone according to plan for them. The Reds have lost 10 out of their 20 games across competitions. They are 12th in the league, having suffered six defeats in their 12 outings.
Following their defeat to City and Nottingham in the league, Liverpool were hammered 4-1 by PSV in the Champions League last time out. While the Reds were looking to back Slot for as long as possible, the defeat to the Dutch club has raised serious question marks over his future at the club.
The Reds are seriously considering sacking the 47-year-old, as the board believes the project has lost its emotional and tactical foundation. While the club were confident that a massive investment in the summer would ensure their dominance, things haven’t worked out for them.
Klopp to replace Arne Slot?
Now, they are preparing for the Dutch manager’s potential departure and have already identified potential candidates to take his place. Jurgen Klopp is one of the names on their wishlist.
The Reds are seriously considering bringing the legendary German manager back to Anfield, and it has resulted in a lot of excitement among fans. Klopp did wonders during his time at the club, as he helped them win the Premier League as well as the Champions League.
He has a very strong relationship with the fans, as well as the board, which makes it easy for them to hold talks with the German manager to see if he is willing to return to Anfield after two years away. His return is seen as the safest option for the club to rebuild their project. However, it depends on Klopp’s desire to once again take on the demanding role of managing the Reds.
