Chelsea and Manchester City are ahead of Manchester United in their pursuit of Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior.
The Brazilian international’s future has become a massive talking point as contract renewal talks with Real Madrid have stalled, and his relationship with Xabi Alonso seems tense.
Vinicius Junior could look for a move away from the club, and if he becomes available, Chelsea and Manchester City will be the leading candidates to secure his services, as per a report from Football Insider.
Vinicius is widely regarded as one of the best wingers in the world. While the 25-year-old was a regular starter under Carlo Ancelotti, things have been a lot different under Alonso. He has often found himself on the bench and has been subbed off in big games.
Vinicius could part ways with Real Madrid
Changes to his role have frustrated the 25-year-old, whose contract at the club runs out in 2027. With only 18 months left on his deal, Madrid have been working hard to secure his long-term future with a new deal. However, they are yet to make any significant progress.
Los Blancos aren’t willing to meet his financial demands, while the player is also not keen on a new deal until his relationship with Alonso is sorted. With renewal talks reaching a standstill, multiple top clubs have taken note of his situation and would pounce on an opportunity to sign one of the world’s best.
He has informed Madrid about his desire not to extend beyond 2027, but the Spanish giants continue to work on a renewal. But if they fail to convince him, they will have to consider offers next summer, as they can’t risk losing him for free.
Vinicius to move to the Premier League?
Despite having just a year left on his deal, Vinicius would still cost around £80 million. While Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all keen on his signature, City and the Blues are front-runners as they have the financial strength to pull off such a massive deal.
He could significantly bolster the attack of any team he joins, and since he is yet to enter his prime years, such a significant investment to bring the Brazilian to the Premier League would certainly make sense.
While United will find it difficult to secure his services, they will certainly try their best, as a player of his calibre could help revive the club. Meanwhile, City and Chelsea would love to have him on their roster, as he could help them dominate Europe.
