Is Josh Jacobs playing today vs. Lions? Packers confirm his status for Thanksgiving

After suffering a knee injury that knocked him out of the Green Bay Packers' Week 11 win over the New York Giants, an injury that thankfully didn't turn out to be season-ending like some initially believed it would be, Josh Jacobs was adamant that he wouldn't miss more than one game.

And as it turns out, his prediction was spot-on, as the three-time Pro Bowler was officially taken off the injury report on Wednesday and will indeed take the field for the Packers' high-profile Thanksgiving Day showdown in the Motor City with the rival Detroit Lions.

A few others weren't as fortunate, however, as Green Bay has officially ruled out defensive linemen Lukas Van Ness (foot) and Karl Brooks (ankle), as well as wide receivers Savion Williams (foot) and Jayden Reed (foot/shoulder).

Reed, of course, hasn't suited up since suffering a broken collarbone in Week 2 against the Washington Commanders and soon after underwent a double surgery to also repair a lingering Jones fracture in his left foot. He continues to sit on injured reserve with a designation to return, with that return now looking like it will happen in Week 14 when the Packers host the Chicago Bears.

Josh Jacobs is active for the Packers' Week 13 matchup with the Lions

Obviously, Jacobs is an integral part of the Packers' offensive attack and has rushed for 648 yards in his 10 appearances this season, with his 11 rushing touchdowns ranking second in the NFL, trailing only the 15 scored by the Indianapolis Colts' Jonathan Taylor.

If Jacobs happens to reinjure his knee or just isn't up to taking as many snaps as he might normally see, the Packers can simply turn to third-year backup Emanuel Wilson.

The 26-year-old filled in beautifully in Jacobs' absence this past Sunday, rushing for a career-high 107 yards and two touchdowns in Green Bay's dominant 23-6 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, a victory that helped the Packers keep pace with the first-place Bears in the NFC North and helped maintain their No. 6 slot in the overall NFC playoff picture. So, Matt LaFleur certainly has options at the running back position.

In the Packers' 27-13 win over the Lions back in Week 1, Jacobs rushed for a game-high 68 yards on 19 carries, including a 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, thus giving him a score in a franchise-record nine straight games, a streak that ultimately got to 10 in the win over Washington before coming to an end in Week 3.
