Italian sides chasing Man City midfielder

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will want to see his side return to winning ways when they host Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.

The Citizens were beaten 2-0 by German side Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday night, having lost 2-1 against Newcastle United in their last Premier League outing.

Guardiola will expect to see his side pick up all three points against the Whites, who have struggled of late and look set to be drawn into a relegation battle this term.

In the meantime, it appears that one member of City’s squad is attracting interest from two Italian sides.

As per Calciomercato via CaughtOffside, both AC Milan and Juventus have both made contact with Bernardo Silva about a possible move at the end of the season.

Silva, 31, is set to be out of contract next summer, and he looks set to depart The Etihad after nine years at the club.

Having joined from Monaco back in 2017, the Portugal international has played more than 420 times for the Manchester club across all competitions.

The Portuguese has won several trophies during his time at The Etihad – including five Premier League titles and the Champions League – but he has been linked with a move away from the club on several occasions.

It is claimed that both Milan and Juventus believe that the midfielder could elevate their respective squads, particularly if he is available to join as a free agent.

So far this season, the midfielder has scored just once in 16 games for Guardiola’s side, as well as providing two assists.

Despite interest from Italy, Silva’s wages – believed to be in the region of £8.7 million-per-year – could prove to be a stumbling block with Juventus and Milan both unlikely to be able to afford a salary that high.
