Why Cris Collinsworth isn't calling NBC's Thanksgiving game, and who his replacement is

There's a lot different about Thursday night's NFL game.

For one, it's Thanksgiving, which is exciting by itself. It's also not on Amazon Prime Video. NBC has the rights specifically to the night game on Thanksgiving.

Because it's an NBC game, it's the Sunday Night Football crew that will work on Thursday.

Well, most of them.

Cris Collinsworth isn't alongside Mike Tirico.

Why isn't Cris Collinsworth calling NBC's Thanksgiving game?

It's simple: Collinsworth takes Thanksgiving off.

The long-time color commentator hasn't worked on Thanksgiving recently, either.

He spends the day with his family, and he'll return for Sunday Night Football in a few days.

Who is Cris Collinsworth's replacement on Thanksgiving?

That's Jason Garrett on the microphone alongside Tirico.

Garrett is the former Dallas Cowboys head coach.

He usually works as a studio analyst with the NBC crew for Sunday Night Football.

But with Collinsworth out for the night, Garrett steps in.
