Green Bay Packers stars Jordan Love and Micah Parsons couldn’t contain themselves during a postgame NFL Thanksgiving tradition after defeating the Detroit Lions.

Love, Parsons, and several of their Packers teammates were already chowing down on turkey when the broadcast came back from commercials for postgame interviews following Green Bay’s 31-24 win against its NFC North rival, in which star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was injured.

FOX sideline reporter Tom Rinaldi hinted that the Packers stars were supposed to wait until they were live on air to start digging in, but after playing 60 minutes of hard-nosed football, they just couldn’t wait.

“We could not hold these guys back, not even close. They were patient up until a point,” Rinaldi said before interviewing Love, who threw four touchdown passes in the win.

It is tradition for every NFL team that wins a game on Thanksgiving to celebrate by eating turkey, joining millions of Americans across the country doing the same in their homes. This year, turkey-eating took on another level in Dallas, where the Cowboys prepared 14,000 pounds of it for fans attending their game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

That’s where Parsons, who was traded from the Cowboys to the Packers this offseason, ate his turkey last season after Dallas defeated the New York Giants on Thanksgiving.

This year, wearing the green and gold, Parsons got another win and was able to enjoy his meal a little more than before.

“You were screaming for the [turkey] leg, Micah,” FOX reporter Erin Andrews told Parsons, who recorded 2.5 sacks in the win.

“Last year we had you and you had the Invisalign in. You know the drill and we got your sauce. You deserve it after a day like that.”

“I do, and I got braces this year so I’m good,” Parsons replied. “I’m not going to lie, much improved turkey.”

Even though Love and Parsons were the only ones interviewed, at least seven other Packers players, including star running back Josh Jacobs, surrounded the makeshift dinner table to get their hands on some turkey.

After all, it is a once-in-a-career occurrence for some players and teams to get a win on Thanksgiving.

Football and Thanksgiving are synonymous in America, with everybody from players to broadcasters getting in on the holiday spirit.

Not only were Rinaldi and Andrews making sure the players got their food, but last year FOX NFL analyst Tom Brady threatened to ditch the broadcast booth ahead of the game so he could eat a full dinner plate.
