Where Cowboys sit in NFC East standings, playoff picture after win over Chiefs

The Dallas Cowboys notched yet another huge win in the Week 13 game against the Kansas City Chiefs that now has Dallas on a three-game winning streak.

More importantly, the victory helps the Cowboys avoid sinking further into the depths of despair when it comes to their playoff hopes, which have new life following three-straight victories since the bye week.

The Cowboys just look like a different team on both sides of the ball right now and it's clear this is not the same Dallas squad we watched earlier in the season.

Here's where things stand in the NFC East and playoff picture for Dallas after the Cowboys' Week 13 victory over the Chiefs.

NFC East standings

1. Philadelphia Eagles (8-3)

2. Dallas Cowboys (6-5-1)

3. Washington Commanders (3-8)

4. New York Giants (2-10)

It's a two-team race in the division, as the Commanders and Giants are both cooked.

If the Eagles lose to the Chicago Bears on Friday, the Cowboys will enter Week 14 just one back in the loss column and two back in the win column.

After it felt like the Cowboys were facing an insurmountable climb to win the division, it's now not too far out of reach.

NFC playoff picture

With the win over the Chiefs, the Cowboys moved up one spot in the NFC playoff picture to No. 9, jumping the Carolina Panthers. However, if the Panthers win on Sunday, the Cowboys will go back to No. 10.

No. 9 is the furthest Dallas can move up this week, as the team in the No. 8 spot, the Detroit Lions, has seven wins. The Lions lost their Thanksgiving Day game against the Green Bay Packers.

The Cowboys will look to stretch their winning streak to four games against those Lions on Thursday night in Week 14.
