By passer rating, Jordan Love has had his three best outings this season in the Packers’ three biggest games: Week 1 vs the Lions, Week 8 in Pittsburgh, and Week 13 in Detroit. Although he was not at his most efficient against the Lions on Thanksgiving, Love put up a dazzling stat line of four touchdowns to zero picks, on 18-30 passing for 234 yards.
It was a clutch performance on a must-have game for position in the NFC North. All game long, Love both made the big plays and kept the ball safe. On a 4th & 3 just beyond midfield, on the first play after the two-minute warning, he found Dontayvion Wicks to seal the game on a 16-yard completion.
Just four days after the Packers’ win Sunday versus the Vikings, Love did all of it playing through a left-shoulder injury that had been bothering him this week.
Micah Parsons, who did his part getting the ball back to the Green Bay offense, was both impressed and not at all surprised by his quarterback’s play. Love grinding it out and coming up big is something he’s gotten used to in his 12 games as a Packer.
Parsons expects nothing but the highest degree of toughness and leadership from Love
“Just expectations. That’s just who is,” Parsons said when asked for his thoughts on Love’s 4-TD day. “He’s going to show up injured, hurt, he’s going to fight for his guys and play at the highest level. J. Love’s the ultimate competitor. There’s not too many quarterbacks that I can put up, you know, that fight like him through everything he’s going through.”

Spectators wouldn’t know it, but Love briefly left Sunday’s game against the Vikings on the play he hurt his shoulder, a scramble that resulted in a hard hit from the Minnesota defense. He wasn’t out long, and despite some discomfort, did not have an issue suiting up against Detroit on a short week.
Love also hurt his left thumb in the preseason, requiring surgery. On run plays, the Packers have adopted a one-handed handoff tailored to avoid aggravating the injury.
“All the injuries, you know, he just comes in and he works and it’s starting to show off. Like the jump he’s making this year has been like night and day.”
On the season, Love now has 19 TDs to just 3 INTS, completing 67% of his passes for 2,794 yards. It all amounts to a 104.3 passer rating and 73.2 QBR.

With the exception of yards per game (partly that is by design; LaFleur has faced criticism for being overly conservative at times), Love is easily on pace to set career-best marks in every category. In his third season as a starter, the Packers sit 8-3-1 in the hotly contested NFC North. Next up is another key divisional game against the Bears (8-3). Chicago plays the Eagles on the road tomorrow at 2:00 PM CT.
