Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is fielding apologies after what he did on the field against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Dallas Cowboys shut down the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving Day, and it was quite a win for Texas. The Cowboys pulled off a victorious 31-28 win over the Chiefs, and now, the Cowboys have a 6-5-1 record for the season, while the Chiefs are an unexpected 6-6.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was a standout during the game. Prescott had 320 passing yards, two touchdowns, one interception and a 100.4 quarterback rating, according to NFL research, which was enough to take down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
It hasn’t been an easy road for Prescott, though. He was out for much of last season due to an injury, and he’s had to fight hard to get back and healthy again. Not only that, but those who follow the Dallas Cowboys haven’t always been super welcoming to him.
As with any franchise quarterback, when the team isn’t doing well, they get the brunt of it, and that’s been the case at times with Prescott. But, following his performance against the Chiefs, Prescott is fielding apologies.
Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys is Owed an Apology
After the game, Dallas Cowboys followers were quick to hop on social media and admit that they were wrong about Prescott. It was a huge showing of support for the quarterback.
“As a fanbase, we owe Dak Prescott an apology,” one said on X after the game. “Great stuff today from Dak Prescott,” said another. “I am ready to say that I am a Dak Prescott fan,” one more added.
Not to get dramatic, but another said, “Dak Prescott I would die for you.” That’s a bit much, but it shows their passion. “I rarely get to say this.. but what a game for the Cowboys,” one more said. “Highly entertaining game and wow what composure from Dak Prescott. Impressive.”
Chase Daniel of ESPN made a great point during the game, before it had even ended. “Dak Prescott is so criminally underrated my most fans…it’s unreal,” he said. “We now live in a world where the Chiefs are 6-6 with Patrick Mahomes,” another said.
What’s This Mean Wins to the Dallas Cowboys
So, thanks to a 320-yard passing day from Prescott, the Dallas Cowboys knocked off the defending AFC champions, the Chiefs, in front of a home crowd at AT&T Stadium on Thursday. The win keeps their NFC playoffs hopes alive, and the Chiefs are cone again .500 and need some help if they want to get to the playoffs, which they obviously do.
CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens also had great days. Lamb had 112 yards and a touchdown, and Pickens had 88 yards, according to NFL research.
Kurt Daniels of the Dallas Cowboys’ official website put the spotlight on the difference between Prescott and Mahomes in the game. “In a battle between star quarterbacks, the Cowboys’ Dak Prescott went toe-to-toe with the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes. Prescott completed 69.2 percent of his passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns for a 100.4 passer rating,” he said. “Meanwhile, his counterpart finished with a 67.6 completion percentage for 261 yards, four touchdowns and a 129.7 mark.”
