An NFL legend has been subject to vicious online rumors claiming that he had passed away - before denying the reports himself via social media.
On Thanksgiving, a fake report emerged on Facebook which claimed that Buffalo Bills legend and former wide receiver Steve Tasker had died.
However, fans were immediately skeptical of the report due to a number of incorrect details. For example, it listed Tasker's year of birth as 1986, instead of 1962.
It also claimed that Tasker had died at the age of 62 when, in fact, he is 63 years old.
Just a few hours later, Tasker took to social media to refute the phony report. Posting a screenshot of it, Tasker bluntly wrote on X: 'I'm fine'.
The bizarre report, which was shared by a page called 'Frozen Charge' on Facebook, claimed that 'his family' had announced his death. No such post could be found.

In response to Tasker's post on X, fans immediately wished him well and ripped into the fake report for the potential concern that it caused Bills fans and Tasker's family.
One said: 'So sorry you have to deal with this nonsense, and on Thanksgiving of all days. Hope you can enjoy the rest of your day with your family and forget about this'.
'It's comical how is says age 62, but then has you born in 1986. I'm glad that you're fine and alive, but people also need to pay attention to details like that; therefore realizing that this cannot be taken seriously,' another furious fan wrote online.
Meanwhile, some fans noted that Tasker had appeared on The Sean McDermott Show earlier in the day, as part of their preview for their clash against the Steelers.
Tasker regularly appears on the show along with Bills head coach McDermott and provides a run down of the team's preparations for their game that week.
Earlier this month, Tasker was named among nine semifinalists for election from the seniors category for a place in The Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Tasker spent 12 of his 13 NFL seasons with the Bills and, during that time, became a five-time first-team All-Pro and a seven-time Pro Bowl selection.
