Cowboys reveal the why in odd George Pickens incident vs. Chiefs

The Dallas Cowboys faced the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving and managed a stirring 31-28 win at AT&T Stadium, but something odd happened right at the start of the game.

As Dak Prescott and the Cowboys strolled out to take the field after the Chiefs had won the toss and deferred, we noticed something rather peculiar.

Star receiver George Pickens wasn't on the field, but CeeDee Lamb was.

This led to all sorts of speculation that Pickens might have been disciplined in the same manner he was against the Las Vegas Raiders. George would then check into the game on the next play, which makes it even more confusing.

But head coach Brian Schottenheimer clarified the move when asked if it was injury-related.

“No," Schottenheimer said. "What was the first play? No, different personnel grouping. That's actually what it was. But no, no, you guys [the media] would know. I would tell you guys.”

CeeDee Lamb bounces back vs. Chiefs

After Lamb's drops against the Philadelphia Eagles got national attention, all eyes were on 88 to see what his response would be.

Granted, all week in the lead-up to the game, Dak, Schottenheimer, and Lamb himself all expressed confidence in a bounce-back game, and that is exactly what happened.

Lamb would post seven receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown as he tormented Chiefs corner Trent McDuffie in a devastating performance, which included a 51-yard bomb in the fourth quarter.

Yeah, Lamb might have had the drops last week, but he made sure he had his get-right game in perhaps the biggest spot of the season.

Just as a Cowboys player wearing 88 usually does.
