NFL Thanksgiving: Bengals, Cowboys, Packers post holiday victories

In quarterback Joe Burrow’s return after a nine-game injury absence, the Cincinnati Bengals defeated Baltimore 32-14 on Thursday night to end the Ravens’ five-game winning streak.

The Bengals won their first two games with Burrow at quarterback. During Burrow’s absence because of a toe injury, Cincinnati won only once. But the Bengals went to 3-0 with Burrow in the lineup as the quarterback came back with 261 passing yards and two touchdown tosses against Baltimore.

But Burrow didn’t spring the upset by himself. Cincinnati came up with five takeaways – four fumble recoveries and one interception.

Former Alabama safety Jordan Battle made a key play for the Bengals defense in the second quarter for one of the takeaways. Baltimore tight end Isaiah Likely was all but in the end zone for a 45-yard touchdown reception when Battle knocked the football out of his hands. The ball bounded out of bounds in the end zone for a touchback. Cincinnati went on an 11-play, 74-yard drive for a field goal to take a 9-7 lead with 2:36 left in the first half instead of trailing 14-6 with 8:22 left in the first half.

Battle led the Cincinnati defense with eight tackles and also made two tackles on special teams.

The Cincinnati-Baltimore game concluded a Thanksgiving tripleheader in the NFL. In the other games:

The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 31-28 as quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns. Prescott’s 3-yard touchdown pass to running back Javonte Williams with 11:15 to play overcame Kansas City’s 21-20 lead, and the Cowboys ran out the final 3:27 when the Chiefs closed within three points. Kansas City played in the Super Bowl last season, and Dallas defeated the team that won that Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles, 24-21 on Sunday.

Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love threw four touchdown passes as the Packers defeated the Detroit Lions 31-24. Love’s first two TD passes came on fourth down as Green Bay took a 17-7 lead. The Lions cut the lead to three points twice, and Love responded with a touchdown pass both times. Love also had a fourth-down completion with 69 seconds to play that allowed him to kneel out the victory.

In addition to Battle, 21 players from Alabama high school and colleges got on the field:
