Everton boss David Moyes will already be looking towards the January transfer window as a huge opportunity to bolster his ranks at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season.
Everton spent well in the summer transfer window, adding a blend of youth via the likes of Tyler Dibling, Adam Aznou and Thierno Barry, as well as bringing in real quality through Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Carlos Alcaraz.
It’s somewhat paid off, with the Toffees sitting 11th in the Premier League table, just three points away from the Champions League spots and with a renewed impetus under David Moyes.
But the January window is looming and with the left-back slot being a key area of much-needed reinforcement, Everton News looks at five potential signings the Scottish gaffer could make.

Everton could look to the homegrown market to strengthen at left-back
Starting off with players who have already been linked with a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and it’s Myles Lewis-Skelly who is an obvious mention here.
The Arsenal left-back has been struggling for Premier League minutes due to Riccardo Calafiori’s strong form and with the World Cup on the horizon in the summer, a six-month loan move to Merseyside could be ideal for him.
Elsewhere, Manchester City star Nathan Ake has similarly been linked with an Everton move. The emergence of youngster Nico O’Reilly, alongside Rayan Ait-Nouri signing in the summer and Josko Gvardiol being one of the best defenders in the league means he’s been pushed down the pecking order – and although the Dutchman is primarily a centre-back, he’s shown he can perform on the left under Pep Guardiola.

Finally, Sunderland left-back Dennis Cirkin is out of contract in the summer. Sunderland went on a shopping spree of their own in the off-season and it’s given them a real chance of survival, though Cirkin was one of the main losers of that cohort thanks to Reinildo’s signing.
Crucially, all three are homegrown and would prove to be cheap solutions for the Toffees to massively increase their quality and depth.
Attacking full-backs are certainly needed under David Moyes in the future
The homegrown players don’t stop there, as one option for Everton could be Leif Davis.
Although Ipswich Town struggled in the second half of the Premier League last season, Davis still managed to record three assists and a goal – and his incredible tally of 21 Championship assists in the 2023-24 season proved he’s capable of being the attacking, marauding style that Everton haven’t had since Lucas Digne.
Finally, Bayern Munich star Raphael Guerreiro would be an incredible signing if David Moyes can spin his magic to bring him to Merseyside.
Is Troy Parrott the perfect January signing for Everton?
Although Guerreiro has over 200 Bundesliga outings with 85 goal contributions, as well as 11 Champions League goals in just 59 outings for Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund combined, he’s primarily a left wing-back.
For someone with incredible experience, the French-born Portuguese international would be ideal on a cut-price fee given his contract at the Allianz Stadium runs out in the summer at the age of just 32.
