Everton vs Newcastle team news ahead of the Premier League fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton aim for a third successive victory in the Premier League when they welcome Newcastle United to Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday (17.30 GMT).
David Moyes will want his troops to continue the momentum after an impressive 1-0 win at Manchester United. The Blues earned the triumph despite the majority of the game being played with 10 men.
Everton are 11th in the table yet are currently just three points off the top four. Moyes has his side well-drilled, with each player knowing their role. But the Toffees will be wary they are in for a difficult clash against Newcastle.
The Magpies have been inconsistent this term but having plenty of quality. Manager Eddie Howe will also be demanding a response after Newcastle suffered a 2-1 defeat by Marseille in the Champions League earlier this week.
Ahead of the Premier League clash, here’s a look at the team news for both sides.
Everton team news
Idrissa Gana Gueye - out
The midfielder’s red card for slapping team-mate Michael Keane means that he must serve a one-match ban.
Seamus Coleman - out
It was a sad sight to see the Everton captain was forced off in the 10th minute against United because of an injury. It is almost certain that Coleman is set for a spell on the treatment table.
Merlin Rohl - out
The midfielder underwent a hernia operation during the international break.
Jarrad Branthwaite - out
The key centre-back has still to play this season because of a hamstring injury that required surgery last month. A timeframe on Branthwaite’s potential return is still to be given and Everton will not rush his return.
Nathan Patterson - major doubt
The right-back sustained a foot injury last month. Patterson did not play for the under-21s earlier this week which suggests he is still not ready to come back.
Newcastle team news
Yoanne Wissa - out
The striker is still to make an appearance for Newcastle United after his £55 million arrival from Brentford. Wissa has a knee injury.
Kieran Trippier - out
The experienced full-back has missed the past two games and Howe has admitted he’s unsure when Trippier will return,
William Osula - out
The striker has been unavailable for Newcastle’s previous four matches and Howe revealed earlier this week that Osula is likely to be missing against Everton.
