Liverpool's Slot and Maresca feature: 15 managers with most points won after their first 50 PL…

The Premier League is widely considered to be the greatest league in the world, and as such it is usually home to some of the best players and managers the game has to offer.

In fact, there aren't many who are considered among the best who haven't plied their trade in England's top flight at some point, and the greatest minds of the modern era have almost all had a go at winning the competition.

But which managers have come to the league and made the biggest impact, winning the most points in their first 50 games? GIVEMESPORT takes a look at the record books...

15 Roberto Mancini - 91 points

Roberto Mancini lifting Premier League trophy for Manchester City

The Italian took over the reigns at Manchester City in 2009, replacing Mark Hughes, and made an immediate impact by earning 91 points from his first 50 games at the club.

He continued that excellent run for the four years he spent at the Etihad Stadium, winning the FA Cup and Community Shield too. But the biggest moment of his career was undoubtedly leading the Cityzens to their first-ever Premier League title in 2011/12, with that Sergio Aguero goal handing his side the trophy.

Mancini was sacked in 2013 after losing the FA Cup final to Wigan, and at the time of his departure he had achieved the fourth-best winning percentage in Premier League history - behind Jose Mourinho, Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti.

14 Frank Clark - 91 points

Frank Clark

Frank Clark is probably the least known name on the list for most football fans, but his run as Nottingham Forest manager in the early 90's is the stuff of legend.

Replacing the iconic Brian Clough at the end of May 1993, Clark got Forest promoted at the first attempt into the Premier League and took the team to a sensational third-place finish in their first season in the top-flight, earning 77 points from their 42 games.

While it didn't go on that way, he did pick up 14 points from the opening eight games of the following season to earn 91 points from his first 50 games, an incredible feat considering the team he was managing.

13 Enzo Maresca - 92 points

The most recent addition to the list is current Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who reached an excellent 92 points with the Blues after arriving at the club from Leicester City at the start of the 2024/25 season.

After working under Pep Guardiola as an assistant, Maresca went to the Foxes and earned them promotion to the Premier League, but before taking charge of a game he made the switch to Stamford Bridge, and in his first season guided the Blues to a fourth-placed finish, while also winning the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup.

Maresca's 92 points in his first 50 games is a great achievement considering his lack of managerial experience prior to this job, and the future looks bright for him.

12 Jurgen Klopp - 92 points

Jurgen Klopp

After Brendan Rodgers was sacked following a difficult start to the season, Jurgen Klopp arrived at Liverpool with a huge reputation, having taken Borussia Dortmund to back-to-back Bundesliga titles and also a Champions League final during his tenure there.

The German lived up to the hype with a fantastic haul of 92 points from his first 50 games in the division, and he continued to show his brilliance over a nine-year stint at Anfield where he won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups, and a Champions League trophy, before departing in 2024 as a legend.

11 Louis Van Gaal - 94 points

A rather surprising entry into this list considering Van Gaal only spent two seasons in the Premier League before he was sacked by Manchester United, but the legendary Dutch coach accumulated an impressive 94 points in his first 50 games in England's top flight.

After achieving a top four finish in his first season, Van Gaal finished fifth in his second season, and despite winning the FA Cup, he was relieved of his duties, and hasn't managed at club level since.

10 Arne Slot - 96 points

When Jurgen Klopp revealed he would be leaving Liverpool, it looked like the impossible job for whoever was going to come in and replace him.

However, the Reds appointed Dutch boss Arne Slot from Feyenoord after he had won the Eredivisie title, and in his first season at Anfield he romped to the Premier League title too. Slot earned 96 points from his first 50 games in charge, but there are now some big question marks over his future amid some recent poor form, which would make it quite the miracle if he completed another 50 games with Liverpool.

9 Thomas Tuchel - 98 points

Chelsea were well known for chopping and changing their managers in the Roman Abramovich era, and the last man to be in charge under the Russian oligarch was Thomas Tuchel, who took over from Frank Lampard in January 2021.

The German put defence first with a back-three system and in his first 50 games he earned a whopping 98 points in the Premier League, while he also reached the FA Cup final and won the UEFA Champions League in his first half-season. His time at the club was brought to an abrupt end by new ownership, and now he is set to lead England to the 2026 World Cup as their head coach.

8 Kevin Keegan - 99 points

An icon of English football, Kevin Keegan is probably best known these days for his spell as manager of Newcastle United during the 90's, where he saved them from obscurity and turned them into title contenders.

Keegan helped the team get promoted to the Premier League as First Division champions, and in his first top-flight campaign he led the team to a sensational third-place finish. He continued that excellent run in the second season, accumulating an incredible 99 points in his first 50 games in the division, but ultimately he ended his career as a manager without a Premier League trophy - with his most iconic moment coming in a post-match rant towards Sir Alex Ferguson's Man United.

7 David O'Leary - 100 points

A legendary defender in his prime, David O'Leary made his name at Arsenal and to this day is the player with the most appearances in club history. But as a manager, the Irishman is best known for his time as Leeds boss between 1998 and 2002, where he became the second manager to reach 100 points in his first 50 Premier League games.

After taking over from George Graham at Elland Road, O'Leary turned the Whites into a formidable side that boasted talent such as Harry Kewell, Alan Smith, Mark Viduka and more. He never finished below fifth place before leaving in 2002, just before Leeds' huge financial issues began and their relegation, but his legacy remains.

6 Sir Alex Ferguson - 103 points

The most successful manager in Premier League history with 13 titles at Manchester United, it's a surprise to nobody at all that Sir Alex Ferguson makes the list. But it may be a surprise to some that he is just outside the top five.

Ferguson was already several years into his tenure at Old Trafford when the Premier League began, so it's no surprise that they won four of the first five editions of the competition. The legendary Scot accumulated 103 points in his first 50 games, and cemented himself as one of the great managers in football history before retiring in 2013.
