Wright-Phillips Backs Plan To Pair Haaland With 405 Goal Forward That Would Strike Fear Into Man City's Rivals

Former Man City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips thinks Harry Kane should consider moving to the Etihad if he wants to break the Premier League scoring record.

Erling Haaland is currently the main man, but speaking to Best Betting Sites UK, Wright-Phillips said there is a possibility that the two lethal finishers could be partnered up front

“If you were Harry Kane, you could win more silverware at Barcelona, or Real Madrid, why would you turn that down? But if he wants that record in the Premier League, then I think Manchester City would welcome him with open arms”

“I think even if they only play one striker, they can rotate with Erling Haaland. I think both would accept that as long as they were winning trophies.”

“More than that, I think they can play together, because Kane is an exceptional No.10 too, and it would free Haaland up. As soon as Kane has the ball and turns, Haaland would be running in-behind and Kane would find him.”

Kane nearly joined Man City 4 years ago

Before the England captain left Tottenham for Bayern Munich, he was heavily linked with a transfer to City. However, despite overtures in the summer of 2021, the striker stayed in London.

Haaland arrived in Manchester 12 months later, with Kane moving from Spurs to Germany a year after that.

Is a move back to the UK on the cards?

There has been a lot of speculation about Kane’s future following claims that he has a release clause in his contract worth €65m (£57m).

It seems doubtful that City would trigger it, though. The prospect of pairing a player who has scored 405 goals in his senior career with Haaland would strike fear into title rivals like Arsenal and Chelsea, but they are very similar players in a lot of ways so there would be big questions about compatibility. It doesn’t appear to be a realistic transfer.
