Liverpool finds themselves in crisis mode as manager Arne Slot faces increasingly uncomfortable questions about his position at Anfield following a catastrophic run of form that has seen the Reds slump to their worst stretch of results since the 1953-54 season.

Just months after guiding the club to their 20th league title, the Dutchman’s future is now under intense scrutiny following nine defeats in their last 12 matches across all competitions.

The reigning Premier League champions have dropped to 12th in the table with just 18 points from 12 games, while their Champions League ambitions are also starting to suffer.

Wednesday’s humiliating 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven at Anfield proved to be a particularly bitter pill to swallow.

Arne Slot’s men have now suffered three consecutive defeats by margins of three goals or more – a feat not seen since 1953 – following 3-0 losses to both Manchester City and Nottingham Forest.

The boos that rang out around Anfield at full-time underlined the growing discontent among supporters.

Now speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has explained Arne Slot’s position at the club:

“From Liverpool the message is quite clear, there is no plan to change the manager immediately – or right after the game against PSV Eindhoven.”

“Part of the fans, if you see on social media, were expecting a reaction from the club. From Liverpool the message is clear: no plans to fire the manager now.”

“He will still have an opportunity to change the situation, but it can’t be forever. The results must change as soon as possible to avoid surprises. Liverpool can’t support, support, support forever.”

He then revealed why the Reds hierarchy are still sticking to their guns regarding Slot:

“He’s a Premier League winner in his first season, he’s a coach that has a very good relationship with the players, and we should not forget what happened during the summer with Liverpool [regarding the late Diogo Jota].”

“So, there are several reasons why they still support Arne Slot.”
