'Fantastic': Alan Stubbs has spotted a drastic change at Everton which may have gone unnoticed

Everton are heading into Saturday’s game against Newcastle United with an opportunity to secure their third consecutive win in the Premier League.

Not since 2023 have Everton been able to win three league games on the bounce, with Sean Dyche doing so just under two years ago.

Monday’s victory marked a monumental moment for both David Moyes and the club as he secured his first away win in the league at Old Trafford.

Everton are above Liverpool for the first time after 12 games since 2014 following another disastrous week for the Reds.

It was a huge game for a number of reasons, with Everton providing themselves with a real opportunity to climb the table this weekend.

Former Everton defender Alan Stubbs thinks that is something the Blues are now capable of doing after noticing a key change on Monday night.

What Alan Stubbs has noticed change at Everton recently

Stubbs is expecting Tyler Dibling to be handed a big opportunity over the coming weeks as Iliman Ndiaye prepares for international duty.

The Senegal international is going to be a huge miss for Moyes, but the former Everton defender has been impressed with a significant change he’s noticed.

Speaking on A View From The Bullens podcast, Stubbs admitted the massive improvement in the team’s mentality against Manchester United.

This is the perfect response to their scuffle at Old Trafford!

“I think we saw a flip side in the mentality when we went down to 10 men. They were absolutely fantastic and overall it was a great night to be a Toffee,” said Stubbs.

“At times it was as if United had 10 men and we had 11 in the first half. Our press and ball retention was excellent, our choice of passes and when to go and when not to go was superb.”

Even Man United fans were impressed with Everton and their performance with just 10 men for the large majority of the match.

This has to be something the Blues take into Saturday’s game against a Newcastle United side who have looked shaky all season.

Everton need to capitalise on their momentum

Winning at Old Trafford was a fantastic result for the Blues, but they have to now follow that up with a result against Newcastle.

Everton have shown strong team spirit as Michael Keane and Idrissa Gana Gueye put their scuffle behind them.

Monday night looks to have really brought this squad together, but they have to keep their momentum going.

Everton’s last three consecutive Premier League wins came in December 2023, which included that impressive 3-0 victory over Newcastle.

Moyes will be hoping for a repeat on Saturday evening.
