We look ahead to Sunday’s Premier League game at the London Stadium with our West Ham vs Liverpool prediction and preview. Will the Reds’ miserable run continue?
West Ham vs Liverpool: The Key Stats
The Opta supercomputer has Liverpool as pre-match favourites versus West Ham United, with their chances of a much-needed victory rated at 49.8%.
West Ham have taken just six points from their last 18 Premier League matches against the Reds.
Alexander Isak has five goals and an assist in five appearances against the Hammers.
Returning to Anfield after a stretch of tough away games was supposed to provide some home comfort for Liverpool. Instead, they lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest last weekend before a 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. West Ham can approach this match with confidence for a few reasons, many of them thanks to the issues of their opponents.

The Reds will probably start panicking the second they see the name of the stadium at which this match takes place. Liverpool have lost each of their last five away league games against London sides, as many as in their previous 31 (of which they won 16). They last had a longer losing run in the capital between September 1952 and April 1954 (eight).
Liverpool Terrible Away Form in London
Some of the other notably poor records the class of 2025-26 are close to equalling also stretch back to the 1950s. Liverpool lost 3-0 against Manchester City and Nottingham Forest in their previous two Premier League matches. They’ve not conceded 3+ goals in three consecutive league games since April 1955 in the second tier, while they last lost three in a row by a margin of 3+ goals in December 1953.
That occurred during the last season in which Liverpool were relegated from the top flight. We’re talking pre-Bill Shankly days here. The club is a world away from what it was back then yet struggling almost as badly.
Even the less-alarming records still stretch back over 30 years. Having only failed to score in one of their first 48 Premier League games under Arne Slot, Liverpool have now lost their last two by a 3-0 scoreline. They last lost more in a row without scoring back in September 1993 (a run of four).
Similarly, the Reds have conceded 20 goals in their 12 league games this season. It’s the joint-earliest into a Premier League campaign they’ve conceded 20+ goals, matching their record at this point in the first season of the modern era, 1992-93.
While the death of Diogo Jota overshadows everything at the club this season, what has gone under the radar is that they are suffering more injuries than last campaign too.
Having Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong out at the same time causes a problem at right-back, with Giovanni Leoni’s season-ending ACL tear limiting rotation options in the heart of the defence. Alisson Becker and Florian Wirtz have also been missing this week but may be able to return here.
Liverpool Terrible Form 2025
There would’ve been far easier times for Liverpool to be facing the Hammers too. When they were under Graham Potter, for starters. West Ham have won seven points from their three Premier League games in November, almost twice as many as the four they accrued across August, September and October combined.
They have also won their last two Premier League home games (3-1 versus Newcastle, 3-2 against Burnley) ending a dreadful run of nine games without a win at the London Stadium. They last won three in a row in May/August 2023, and last did so in the same season in October 2022.
There’s further good news for Nuno Espírito Santo, as Lucas Paquetá can return from suspension, while Konstantinos Mavropanos and Crysencio Summerville may be available after injury too. That would leave Lukasz Fabianski and Oliver Scarles as the Hammers’ only absentees.
West Ham’s resurgence has been helped by Callum Wilson having one of his own. The former Newcastle man has scored three goals in his last two Premier League games, as many as he had in his previous 36. He’s looking to score in three in a row for the first time since September 2023.
Speaking of ex-Newcastle forwards, only against Nottingham Forest has Alexander Isak been involved in more Premier League goals than he has against West Ham. As he has lost each of his first four league games for Liverpool, the Swede will be desperate to add to his five goals and one assist against the Hammers on Sunday.
Whether Isak scores or not, all eyes will be on the Liverpool defence. Can they improve on their dreadful recent record to give Slot a little breathing room?
West Ham vs Liverpool Head-to-Head
Liverpool will be desperate for their head-to-head history against West Ham to carry serious weight on Sunday afternoon.
The Hammers have won just one of their last 18 Premier League games against Liverpool (losing 14), beating them 3-2 at the London Stadium in November 2021.
This fixture ended 5-0 to the visitors last season. Liverpool have scored 25 goals in their nine Premier League visits to the London Stadium, a tally only Manchester City (28) and Arsenal (26) have topped.

It’s keeping goals out at the other end of the pitch that will be the greater concern for Arne Slot though.
West Ham vs Liverpool Prediction
You have to wonder if the Opta supercomputer has seen Liverpool play recently.
The Reds won 49.8% of the 10,000 simulations of this match. With their form as poor as it is, Slot will likely be delighted with what are essentially coin-flip odds of a victory.
The next likeliest outcome is a West Ham win, at 26.6%, with the probability of a draw rated at 23.7%. Can Slot afford anything other than a win though?
